, there's some flight delays around san francisco if you plan on heading there or anyone leaving from there. right now low clouds around the metro area and most of maryland and virginia. a few breaks in the clouds here in the panhandle of west virginia and down in southern shenandoah valley. we have some rain now beginning to show up in southwestern virginia, kentucky, tennessee, the carolinas heading that way you'll drive into rain. it's all above freezing there. closer to us it's below freezing. all of these areas in the dark blue are in the 20s and that includes most of virginia, most of maryland except near the waters. reagan national is at 32. 20 degrees to upper teens in a few locations. roanoke getting rain and 42. this warmer air will begin to move in here by later today. as it does move in, these areas out of the mountains could get an inch of snow and maybe some freezing rain. western maryland and out into eastern west virginia. east of there we could get a little bit of a wet snow and perhaps a little bit of sleet around noontime early afternoon changing to rain by late aft

santa claus but a man in san francisco had to be rescued after he got stuck in a chimney. it happened early monday morning. he was stuck in the chimney of his apartment building which is seven stories high. firefighters had to break some of the chimney bricks to free him. it took about an hour. so far, not clear exactly why he was in the chimney but there's a report that he may have been trying o hide there. >>> looks like this scary scene outside a california mall may have been a stress reliever. police arrested marcos gurrola after he fired 50 rounds in a mall parking lot over the weekend. gurrola said he did it because he was depressed about his grandmother's death and he was kicked out of his family's home. he didn't want to shoot mib and he fires guns just to relieve stress. >>> there's word that the satellite launched by north korea last week is most likely dead. north korean state media counted the launch as successful last week. astronomers say it appears to be tumbling in orbit. the satellite is reported to be carrying cameras. it will need to remain on a controlled

national weather service issued a hazardous weather out look for the san francisco bay area. >>> there's a lot of cleaning up today after storms passed through upstate new york. the storms brought snow as well as high winds toppling trees. one giant one came down on the elderly couple's house. it took a crane, a bucket truck and wood chipper to clean everything up. the good news is, there's a plan for the couple to get back into their home before christmas. pretty ambitious. >> we had strong winds, but didn't causes damage. >> we saw early power outages, but wasn't as bad as it could have been. >> we had a discussion at a weather workshop two weeks ago, and we think the reason we had the cutback, a lot of winds that were weakened had been brought down and the power companies went out and took care of the trees near power lines, and that could be helping, so good news for all concerned there. not to mention, it's nice to have a quiet day on your weekend. you might be fighting crowds at the mall, but won't be fighting mother nature. look at the beautiful blue sky over washington this morning

the santa cruz mountains and you work your way up through the peninsula. in san francisco, light showers and even hayward seeing light showers. we are not done yet even though we won't see a lot of heavy rain. the next storm system that arrives will be very heavy. the next front tomorrow morning around this time and in the time frame from 5:00 to 9:00 tomorrow morning, we could be looking at one to three inches of rain and the potential for four inches plus in the mountains that include the santa cruz and north bay mountains. wind gusts 40 to 60 and the mountains could reach 1 helped helped miles per hour. rivers are rising to some which would be in moderate flood stage. for today temperatures will be cool. you need a jacket and nothing heavy until tonight. we will detail the timing and who is actually in the risk to see these rivers rise in just a little bit. back to you. >> thank you very much. as anthony mentioned, several places where flooding is a serious concern this weekend and that includes the peninsula. many people in palo alto and menlo park are knee deep. the creek ha

-term connected in population centers in san francisco and los angeles, but it will be a long time before that is accomplished. right now we do have the connectivity we need to, the population, and we also have the only corridor, 430 some mile corridor almost entirely unknown by amtrak, the american people and the taxpayers. that is opposed to the rest of amtrak service, 20,000 miles of service, long-distance, inner-city service, on which amtrak runs on private freight rail that is maintained and paid for on a lease basis to the private sector, and we in fact again bones this corridor and we have also highlighted -- i took the chairmanship in october of 2010, the summary of the title is the federal government must stop sitting on its assets. the first part deals with gsa and we have taken on gsa and some of the idle buildings that sat vacant. was a few minutes ago to continue the effort to get empty buildings fill. if you read through this report it also talks about the northeast corridor which is one of the most valuable assets, transportation, infrastructure assets in the entire

maze" east of san francisco -- in the livermore valley wine country -- to hoards of crazed kids and their parents. you're surrounded by eight, ten foot stalks of corn. so you lose your sense of direction very easily. they're having a field day exploring six acres of corn. it's a dead end this maze is only one of hundreds that open across the country each year. this one looks like a quarter, thanks to a corn maze expert who carves out the design months ahead of time. he sets this field into grids by using the rows that we plant on and then he flags it out. gets it all marked. and then he comes in and actually kills the corn with round up when it's about two inches tall. so it's already done basically when this corn is two, three inches out of the ground. they even install a bridge... which later becomes a big hit with the kids. this is cool! wow! how'd they get under there? for those who get hopelessly turned around, help is on hand. dan marciel is a partner in the farm who also plays "corn cop." they're completely lost. they don't know where they're at or what they're doing sometime
